Today I lay my song to rest.
Alas, it did not pass the test.
It had too many chords you see,
and a twisted weird-ass melody.
The rhythm had too many changes
the bridge it just went on for ages.
My off-key singing scared the birds,
I sometimes cringed at the stupid words.
So then I put the song away
and wrote this one instead today.
It's full of rhyme and simple cheer,
to wipe away a mournful tear.
Clichéd and silly I suppose
but this here's the song that I chose
to replace the pointless confusing mess
of that other song I put to rest.
