Song R.I.P. (1:12)
"Hide and Seek" - My attempt at writing a timeless folky love song. Lyrics
"the Sound" - The second song I wrote for guitar, complete with 20+ chords last I checked. I think of this as the Song with the Disturbing Subject Matter. Lyrics
"Phoenix" - The first song I ever wrote for guitar, for my husband Troy, who loves the mythology of the bird who resurrects from flame. Lyrics
"Your Choice" - There's nothing quite like complaining about people who complain. This song was born from a vocal melody that haunted me until I found the words and chords for it. Lyrics
"Song R.I.P." - A true story about a song that didn't quite work out. Lyrics
My father Gary Robinson, for randomly suggesting one day that I ought to take up guitar.
Dinah's sister's neighbor Lyman for observing my first clumsy attempt at fingering a G chord and saying "You're a natural!"
My husband Troy McFarland, for lending me his guitar and teaching me the basics, and for the useful critiques, and so many things onward to infinity.
My guitar teacher Chandler Rose, for putting up with me.
My voice instructor Deeji Killian, for great advice.
God, for giving me talents I didn't know I had until other people told me.
And everyone else who has supported and encouraged me.
All songs written, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered by Alyssa McFarland, in the kitchen of her house on October 9-10, 2004.
